e-Learning is the use of electronic methods to impart technical or non-technical training. To this extent e-Learning is not an IT industry term but it does involve the use of IT. The difference between training and e-Learning, as an analyst with the Gartner Group puts it, is that one is “just-in-case” whereas the other is “just-in-time.”
The search for effective pedagogy is of key importance since the need to excite learners’ interests, retain them on courses and enable their progression is vital to institutions and practitioners as well as learners themselves. In this context, both practitioners and learners need to acquire, and be able to deploy, a set of skills as the situation demands.
- ONLINE COURSE MANAGEMENT
InVendor uses Moodle as a backbone of its e-Learning framework. Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It has become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. To work, it needs to be installed on a web server somewhere, either on one of your own computers or one at a web hosting company.
Moodle enables instructors to create and manage Web-based learning materials and activities to enhance their face-to-face classes. Students use Moodle to access these materials and participate in learning activities via the Web.
- INTERACTIVE VIDEO CONFERENCING
While Moodle handles course management, content management, student evaluation, and a lot more, the InVendor e-Learning framework also incorporates a bundled videoconferencing facility that helps student virtually participate in the course and creates real interaction between the trainer and the participants, and also among participants themselves.
The framework contains a web conferencing system that allows remote presentation with slides, audio, video, chat and desktop-sharing, it is aimed at educational institutions to help them facilitate remote teaching and learning.
